I love making things come to life, which is why organizing events appeals so much to me. Whether it's for a cause, a conference, workshop, panel discussion or simply to network, it's all incredibly rewarding when I think of all of the interactions, exchanges and connections that have taken place at events that I’ve personally organized. Below is a list of events that I'm personally involved in hosting/organizing or that I've been invited to speak or participate in, in some official capacity.

Event Description:

Ukraine and Taiwan have much in common such as the threats from the neighboring countries, so to center their relation to each other, we are bringing Taiwanese identity to European audiences on the first anniversary of Russia's Invasion of Ukraine on Feb 24, 2022, and Taiwan's Peace Memorial Day on Feb 28 in a screening of The Other Side of the Sea

About the film:

After Russia invaded Ukraine in Feb 2022, our community of immigrant artists and musicians in the New York City area looked to the other side of the world. They felt stunned and frozen and needed to do something to bring awareness to the war and refugee crisis.

They seek to renew a connection to the other side of the sea. Their instruments of change are pianos and paintbrushes. Haunted and inspired by the upheavals facing family and friends, neighbors and strangers in their home countries, they take action through art.

Have you always known "what you want to be when you grow up"? Or are you the type who's having trouble deciding what to declare as your major?

Do you know that your passion is in life, but aren't sure if you can make a career of it? Or are you just afraid of getting stuck in a job that you hate?

SEPTEMBER 19, 2014: Raising the Money: Crowdfunding Tips Panel,  presented by Crowdzu at WILLiFEST

I was invited by Crowdzu to be on this panel about crowdfunding. On December 15, 2013, with 11 days left, my MAKING HISTORY: The Story of Su Beng crowdfunding campaign was fully funded.

If you're thinking about running a crowdfunding campaign, I highly recommend taking every opportunity you can to hear from people who have run successful and unsuccessful crowdfunding campaigns. Pick up all the tips and advice you can, try to understand what you could be getting yourself into, and really think about whether or not you have what it takes to meet your crowdfunding goal. Before I even decided to launch a crowdfunding campaign, I attended a slew of crowdfunding panels and workshops. I also thankfully got a lot of great the advice a number of crowdfunding experts while planning my crowdfunding campaign.

What a trip down memory lane it was for me- being on this panel and sharing my experience with the MAKING HISTORY: The Story of Su Beng crowdfunding campaign. I'm always happy to be able to share advice with others considering crowdfunding. I also really enjoyed hearing about the experiences of the other panelists on the Crowdfunding Tips Panel.

JULY 22, 2011: Revolutionary in New York: a reading, talk, Q&A with Su Beng

During Su Beng's first visit to the U.S. in nearly 20 years, he stopped by New York, so I organized reading, talk and Q&A with Su Beng.

Here's a brief description of the event:

Su Beng, a 92-year-old Marxist revolutionary from Taiwan will be in conversation about his life with his biographer, Felicia Lin. Lin will read an excerpt from The Conscience of Taiwan: The Memoirs of Su Beng (a work she is writing in collaboration with Su). Q&A with the audience will follow.

Su Beng is best known for his lifelong work for Taiwan independence and as the author of Taiwan's 400 Year of History

The event concluded with the screening of the trailer for Almost Home: Taiwan, a road-trip documentary on Taiwanese independence and identity. In the film, filmmaker Victoria Linchong unearths her roots and shines a light on the history and culture of an island long at the center of political debate.
